ISLAMABAD: President Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) Walid Irshaid Thursday said that the company earned a revenue amounting to Rs. 16.6 billion in the first quarter of year 2008 which included a profit of Rs. 3.2 billion for the company.
Addressing a press conference at PTCL Headquarters, Walid Irshaid said the company was making vigorous efforts to provide its valued customers with value-added services.
"In this regard, Free Internet Service was provided to the consumers this year. We also introduced Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) on August 14, this year, and became only the fourth company do so across the globe," he said.
The PTCL President said the IPTV service was introduced in four major cities and it would be expanded to 144 other cities shortly.
"We have initially introduced 100 channels with unique features on IPTV which also include parental control and replay of movies. The IPTV is free-of-cost till February next," he added.
He said the internet service was also launched in five major cities of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and 1070 consumers were enjoying the service.
Irshaid, while answering a query, said the company was well aware of the problems being faced by the consumers and was making every possible effort to redress the issues.
"We are living in the modern age where companies only with best services can survive. We are not sleeping over the complaints of our valued customers and vigorous efforts are being made to redress the issues," he added.
"We have signed an MoU to establish a center with state-of-the-art facilities and this center would play a vital role in helping redress the complaints of our consumers," he added.
He said Pakistani consumers are enjoying the lowest tariff across the world in telecom sector while the PTCL is making all efforts to add services for its valued customers.
To another question, Walid Irshaid said the PTCL Broadband Service was not being regulated and the company had informed the PTA in this regard.
